Be watchful against Ebola, NCAA cautions carriers

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has coordinated all carrier administrators, particularly those working territorial and universal flights into the nation to practice an abnormal state of watchfulness following the resurgence of the Ebola Virus Disease in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The NCAA said the World Health Organization had proclaimed the episode a Public Health Emergency of International Concern in accordance with International Health Regulations.

The aeronautics organization, in an announcement marked by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr Sam Adurogboye, on Tuesday, said the order was contained in a letter marked by the NCAA Director General, Capt Muhtar Usman, and had since been sent to all carrier administrators.

The office stated, “In the letter, NCAA has coordinated that carriers’ pilots in order of air ship are to answer to Air Traffic Control any associated case with transferable sickness on board their trip in accordance with Nig.CARs 18.8.22.4.

“In the event of an associated case with transferable ailment on board a flying machine, aircrew are required to fill the General Declaration and Public Health Passenger Locator shapes in accordance with Nig.CARs 18.8.17.4 and 18.8.22.5 individually.

“From there on, finished structures are to be submitted to the Port Health Services of the goal aerodrome.”

The NCAA expressed that likewise, aircrafts were to guarantee that they had on board legitimate and suitable number of First Aid units, Universal Precaution Kits and Emergency Medical packs in accordance with Nig.CARS 7.9.1.11 and 7.9.1.12.
