Former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Alhaji Abubakar (retired) has called on the youths in the country to suspend the End SARS protest so as to give harmony a chance.
Abubakar, who expressed this while addressing Journalists in Minna on the End SARS issue, noted the need to end the protest to also give room for dialogue.
According to him, “these lamentable incidents is causing serious concern to numerous Nigerians and if care isn’t taken, it may take the nation to a state of return”
“I appeal to the young people who have firmly and unmistakably made their points to withdraw from streets and prepare for dialogue.”
He appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to address their grievances as well as layout programmes that meet and addresses objective of their protest.
The elder statesman, nonetheless, discredited the manner in which the protest has been hijacked by crooks leading to violence destruction of both government and private properties in the nation.
He further expressed that as a result of the protest, hoodlums took advantage of situation to criminally release prisoners from prisons in parts of the Nation.
“This development has forced government to send out security agencies to reestablish peace which lamentably further prompted loss of more innocent lives in the nation, ” the previous Head of State included.
