Teenager drowns while fishing in Delta —Police

The Nigeria Police, Delta State Command, has affirmed the demise of a 15-year-old kid who suffocated in a dormant waterway in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police in Delta, Adeyinka Adeleke, affirmed the occurrence to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Warri.

“It is valid, the kid suffocated while fishing,” he said.

The deceased, just distinguished as Onoriode, purportedly suffocated on Tuesday while fishing in a stale stream in the Ikpirima Quarters of Osubi.

As indicated by a source, Onoriode, a Junior Secondary School Three understudy, was in the organization of three of his companions on the fishing campaign.

The source said that the perished and his companions originated from Agbasa Community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta.

He included that the stream had expanded in volume and overwhelmed the whole region because of tenacious precipitation.

“The deceased essentially recognized as Onoriode came in the organization of three other youngsters.

“They are inside the age section of 13 and 15.

“They came to fish at the Borrow pit adjacent to the Osubi Airport when the occurrence happened,” the source said.

He engaged the state government to help channel the water into existing trenches.
