The Lagos Government has initiated the process of sealing 105 estates across the state.
The government said those without approval from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development would be affected.
In a public notice distributed in two national dailies, Lagos government gave the estate owners and developers 21-day ultimatum to tender all necessary documents to the office of the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry.
It cautioned that inability to so by March 9 will prompt to sanctions.
An announcement by the ministry’s Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Mukaila Sanusi, clarified that the move was in encouragement of the quest for a functional, orderly, well-organised and resilient smart city.
“Engineers and proprietors of estates are asked to follow the order, which was made as per important arrangements of the Lagos State Government Notice No. 6 of 1983 on Guidelines for approval of layouts, otherwise estates that fail to comply will be sealed in accordance with the law,” it read in part.
